Energy Efficient
By intelligent technical design, based on the German Passivhaus standards, we aim to minimize the need for space heating in your Ecohouse. High levels of insulation with minimal thermal bridging, natural solar gain, airtight construction, triple glazing, using LED and other energy efficient lighting, plus rainwater harvesting systems will reduce your bills. We aim to build each and every house to Passivhaus standard. The Passivhaus standard maximises the use of energy efficiency technologies and represents a big advance on normal UK building practice. If Passivhaus principles were fully applied to all housing in the UK, we estimate that it would lead to over an 80% reduction in CO2 emissions, compared to the average for the existing dwelling stock. If it were applied to non-domestic buildings, the reduction in CO2 emissions, compared to the average for the stock of that building type, can often be in the range 75 to 80%.
Low Environmental Impact
Our homes are built, where appropriate, from super insulated timber frame construction using wood from sustainable sources and ideally locally sourced. We use high quality local materials and are committed to sourcing our materials as locally as possible.
Healthy Spaces
To maintain a healthy indoor air quality we use natural materials wherever possible to minimize the off-gassing associated with volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) which are present in a number of more conventional building materials. Ecohouse uses natural insulation along with natural paints and untreated timber, maximizes the use of natural light and integrates indoor and outdoor spaces to promote good health and well being. Electromagnetic fields created by conventional electrical wiring are also minimized by intelligent detailing.

Your investment should also pay dividends in the shorter term as fuel prices continue to increase and their supply reduces.
